With a Master’s in Environmental Design and a well-developed network of industry professionals, she has both the technical understanding of the design and development process as well as an active network and deep-rooted connections within the market developing exceptional relationships with her clients and candidates throughout the industry.Shawna is a Founding Partner of DMC Recruitment Group and is focused in working with her clients and candidates in the Architecture & Design industry working with various search engagements of specific positions throughout North America including; Principal, Director, Senior Architect, Architect, Technologist, Designer, Project Manager and other positions within small to large architecture and engineering design firms within this discipline.The combination of Shawna’s education, experience and passion for design fuels her goals to develop further relationships with her clients and candidates and her focus on developing an educated and reliable recruitment agency specifically in the industries of architecture and design, building materials and construction. Shawna believes in the development of healthy environments and the design of human spaces as cohesive elements of our built environment and how we as humans can develop and build those spaces. She is passionate about design and spaces but is stronger at developing the relationships with the individuals that create those rather than being one herself. Our client is a globally recognized architecture and design practice known for creating bold, intelligent, and human-centered environments that inspire how people live, work, and connect. With a thriving Toronto studio and an expanding portfolio of workplace projects, they’re seeking a Senior Interior Designer with a passion for innovative office design and a keen understanding of how space can empower culture, performance, and wellbeing.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior Interior Designer will lead workplace design projects from concept through completion — shaping environments that balance creativity, functionality, and brand identity. You’ll collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary teams to deliver workplaces that are as strategic as they are beautiful, supporting hybrid work models, flexibility, and the evolving needs of modern organizations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the design process for workplace interiors, from concept development to detailed documentation and delivery.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand culture, brand, and operational needs, translating these into innovative design strategies.
  • Oversee space planning, material selection, furniture coordination, and interior detailing to achieve cohesive, high-quality outcomes.
  • Partner with architects, engineers, and consultants to integrate interior concepts seamlessly within broader project objectives.
  • Present design ideas and concepts effectively to clients and stakeholders.
  • Mentor and guide junior designers, fostering creativity and professional growth.
  • Stay informed on workplace trends, sustainability strategies, and emerging technologies that influence the future of work.
  • Support business development efforts, proposal writing, and client relationship building when appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Degree or diploma in Interior Design or Architecture.
  • 8+ years of professional experience with a focus on workplace and office design.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating leadership on mid-to-large-scale corporate or commercial interior projects.
  • Exceptional design sensibility with a solid understanding of workplace strategy and human experience.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
  • NCIDQ certification and/or ARIDO membership preferred.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and client engagement skills.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities within a dynamic, collaborative studio environment.
