After completing her Diploma in Communications and Interior Design; her path took into the Recruitment world where she gained around 8 years of experience before joining the corporate sector as a Program and Project Manager in a large Oil and Gas Company before joining her husband’s contracting company as an Interior Designer and Operations Manager for the last 7 years. As a result, she developed a large network of industry professionals in the Building Materials space and has both the technical understanding of the design and construction processes as well as an active network and deep-rooted connections within the industry. The combination of Tara’s education, experience and passion for Design and Building Materials space fuels her goals to develop further relationships with her clients and candidates and her focus on developing specifically in the industries of design and building materials. Tara has been married for 21 years and has two daughters: one in University and one on High School. Together they have two cats and a dog! We are currently recruiting for a Senior Accountant position on behalf of our client, a building materials organization is seeking an experienced professional to manage full cycle accounting. This multifaceted role requires a candidate with a strong background in management accounting, capable of overseeing financial management, taxation, and supervisory duties.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports with supporting working papers, reconciling bank statements and general ledger accounts, managing intercompany reconciliations, and handling holdbacks, deposits, accounts receivable, and accounts payable. A key part of the role will be monitoring cash flows and preparing forecasts, as well as ensuring bank compliance reporting, including monthly credit limit calculations. Additionally, the Senior Accountant will manage payroll calculations, source deduction remittances, and the Group Health & Welfare Benefit plan.

Taxation responsibilities include preparing GST and PST returns, assisting with T2 preparation, and maintaining corporate tax installments. The candidate will also supervise the work of bookkeepers and oversee bi-weekly payroll to ensure accuracy.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of full cycle accounting experience, a Canadian-recognized professional accounting designation, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, and ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics GP. Experience with group benefits, payroll, and ESA knowledge is essential. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills are required, along with the ability to supervise staff and handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

The salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $100,000 annually, depending on experience. Additional benefits include paid annual CPA membership fees, plus training credit for professional development training.
