Quality Manager – Irving, Texas
$90-110k base salary + 401k + benefits


Our client is a long-standing manufacturer within the steel fabrication and machining space, supporting a range of heavy industrial projects across the United States. With decades of operational experience and a strong focus on quality, safety, and delivery performance, the organization is looking to bring on a Quality Manager to oversee and strengthen their quality systems, ensuring consistent product excellence and compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, develop, and continuously improve quality control processes across production
  • Oversee inspection activities; train, mentor, and support Quality Inspectors
  • Interpret fabrication and machining drawings, blueprints, and specifications
  • Monitor welder qualification testing and visual weld inspections in accordance with AWS D1.1 and ASME Section IX
  • Maintain welder training records, qualification records, and continuity logs (internal and customer-specific)
  • Develop and manage welding procedures, inspection reports, and quality documentation packages
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, production teams, and clients to resolve quality issues
  • Support internal and external audits; contribute to ongoing quality system improvements
  • Maintain and update the Quality Manual, SOPs, and work instructions
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and safe welding practices
Qualifications & Skills
  • 5–10 years of experience in quality or inspection within heavy steel fabrication or welding
  • Previous experience as a Quality Manager, Quality Lead, or Senior Inspector preferred
  • High school diploma required; additional certifications are an asset
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) designation considered a strong advantage
  • Strong knowledge of NDT methods (VT, MT, UT, PT, RT, Phased Array) and quality audit processes
  • Familiarity with AWS D1.1, ASME, and NACE standards
  • Ability to read and interpret complex fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and geometric tolerances
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; AutoCAD experience is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong attention to detail with advanced problem-solving capabilities
