Our client, a leading provider of Building Envelope materials, is seeking a dynamic and visionary Directeur général to lead their operation in Crossfield, Alberta. Role Overview
This is a senior leadership role responsible for the overall performance of a large distribution center and associated production facilities. The General Manager will drive strategic growth, operational excellence, and cultural alignment while ensuring strong financial discipline and customer satisfaction.
This role is central to doubling business over the next 3-5 years through strategic business development, operational optimization, and strengthening relationships across the construction ecosystem.
You will oversee both distribution and production functions, ensuring alignment between manufacturing output, inventory management, sales growth, and customer demand — all while cultivating a high-performing, accountable team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Full P&L Leadership:
Own financial performance including budgeting, forecasting, margin management, production costs, inventory control, and safety oversight.
Operational & Production Oversight:
Lead warehouse, production, inside sales, and outside sales teams while ensuring efficient workflows, quality control, safety compliance, and operational discipline across distribution and manufacturing functions.
Strategic Growth:
Drive market expansion initiatives with a strong emphasis on customer experience, relationship development, and measurable performance outcomes.
Team Development:
Build, mentor, and empower high-performing teams while fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.
Relationship Leadership:
Actively engage with key contractors, builders, and industry stakeholders within the Alberta construction market.
Market & Strategy Execution:
Analyze market conditions, identify opportunities for growth, and execute strategic initiatives that support long-term sustainability and profitability.
Requirements
- Proven experience leading large distribution and production/manufacturing operations within Lumber and Building Materials
- Strong P&L management experience including forecasting and budgeting
- Blend of operational, production, and sales leadership capability
- Demonstrated ability to scale operations while maintaining discipline and service excellence
- Experience in the construction or building envelope sector strongly preferred
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and financial acumen

Compensation
