On behalf of our client, a leader in garage door manufacturing and distribution, we are seeking a hands‑on General Manager to lead a new Calgary distribution center. This role will focus on owning facility operations, driving operational excellence, growing revenue through proactive customer engagement, and developing a high-performing team. The General Manager s accountable for P&L performance, safety and compliance, inventory and fulfillment accuracy, and delivering exceptional customer service while continuously improving processes.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute company operational processes across receiving, inventory management, fulfillment, and shipping to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs, scrap, and damage and increase productivity.
  • Take full P&L ownership of the distribution center; identify opportunities to enhance profitability through smarter workflows and resource planning.
  • Conduct proactive sales outreach and customer engagement to grow revenue and strengthen market presence.
  • Recruit, coach, and lead warehouse, delivery, and office personnel (approx. 4 employees); foster accountability, safety, teamwork, and empowerment.
  • Build strong customer relationships; act as the face of the distribution center and resolve customer concerns to ensure smooth delivery experiences.
  • Use data and KPIs to measure performance and drive operational decisions aligned with business goals.
  • Oversee facility safety, cleanliness, and compliance with company and OSHA standards.
  • Support branch staff with product knowledge and customer service best practices.
  • Perform other duties as required to meet organizational needs, including participation in the set‑up and opening of the distribution center.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5-7 years of warehouse or distribution center management experience.
  • Demonstrated success managing budgets, P&L statements, and logistics operations.
  • Proven ability to motivate, lead, and develop teams in a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; experience in customer‑facing roles.
  • Mechanically inclined with working knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • Strong analytical skills; comfortable using KPIs and data to drive decisions.
  • Valid driver's license required.
Education:
  • College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Working Conditions / Requirements:
  • Immediate start; participate in distribution center set‑up and opening.
  • Fast‑paced, high‑volume distribution environment; non‑climate‑controlled warehouse.
  • Frequent lifting (50-75 lbs.), standing, and manual labor; attention to detail and adaptability to shifting priorities.
