On behalf of our client in the residential renovation construction industry, we are seeking an experienced Estimator to prepare and coordinate full cost estimates for projects including materials, labour, and equipment. The Estimator will develop and maintain supplier, contractor and subcontractor pricing, establish unit costs, labour rates and productivity factors, and include allowances for indirects, escalation and contingency. This role is critical to project profitability and requires strong communication and cross-functional collaboration to support successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review sales handoffs and drawings for clarity, design intent and scope alignment; recommend cost‑effective solutions and coordinate updates with sales and drafting.
  • Define scope of work and estimate requirements; review estimate packages for accuracy prior to issuing RFQs.
  • Lead and attend trade site visits to confirm scope, validate pricing and identify risks/constructability challenges.
  • Develop detailed cost estimates at all project stages (materials, labour, equipment, subtrade pricing, productivity factors, location impacts).
  • Assess and include allowances for indirect costs, design unknowns, escalation and contingency.
  • Develop client proposals and contract documents based on drawings, scope and estimates.
  • Maintain accurate estimating records and up‑to‑date supplier/subcontractor pricing through market engagement.
  • Prepare construction handoff packages and participate in internal project consultation meetings, communicating assumptions, risks and scope.
  • Collaborate with sales, drafting, design, production and construction teams to ensure alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare purchase orders and change orders as required.
  • Engage directly with clients throughout the project lifecycle, maintaining a professional, solutions‑focused approach.
  • Manage multiple estimates and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Continuously identify and support improvements to estimating processes, accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of estimating experience, preferably in residential or commercial construction.
  • Strong understanding of residential construction methods, sequencing and renovation challenges.
  • Ability to read, interpret and mark up drawings; experience completing material takeoffs.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort with estimating tools.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines, ask questions, and work through ambiguity.
  • Team‑oriented mindset with a focus on improving estimating accuracy and processes.
  • Residential interior design experience considered an asset.
Education:
  • Post‑secondary education related to construction, engineering, or estimating is an asset but not mandatory.
Working Conditions:
  • Full‑time, Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, based out of the Edmonton office
  • Primarily office‑based with regular computer work; occasional site visits and light physical activity may be required.
  • Frequent interaction with internal teams, clients, suppliers and subcontractors in a fast‑paced environment.
