Estimator

Permanent / Full Time

Seeking and Estimator for large-loss files, with Xactimate experience.

Estimator | Property Restoration & Large Loss
Lower Mainland, BC
$75,000 to $95,000 annually

DMC Recruitment Group is pleased to partner with our client, a respected property restoration organization in the Lower Mainland, British Columbia, in the search for an Estimator.

About the Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced restoration Estimator who understands that a strong estimate is about more than putting numbers into Xactimate.

Our client is an established, full-service restoration contractor supporting residential, commercial, and institutional properties affected by fire, water, storm, and other property losses. With a strong presence across the Lower Mainland, the organization works closely with insurers, adjusters, property managers, consultants, trades, and property owners to move claims from initial assessment through restoration.

They are looking for an Estimator who can confidently own complex files, with a particular focus on large-loss claims.

You will assess damaged properties, develop detailed scopes and Xactimate estimates, work through revisions with insurance partners, and help establish a clear financial and operational roadmap for each project.

For someone who knows restoration and enjoys the technical side of estimating, this role offers the chance to work on larger, more challenging losses while joining an established organization with the resources to deliver them successfully.

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend sites throughout the Lower Mainland to assess property damage and determine the appropriate scope of restoration work
  • Prepare detailed and accurate estimates using Xactimate
  • Develop scopes for complex residential and commercial restoration projects, including large loss claims
  • Review drawings, reports, site conditions, measurements, and supporting documentation to build complete estimates
  • Estimate reconstruction requirements related to fire, water, storm, and other insured property losses
  • Prepare estimates that clearly communicate labour, material, equipment, subcontractor, and project requirements
  • Work directly with insurance adjusters, consultants, project managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders throughout the estimating process
  • Respond to estimate reviews, questions, supplements, and scope changes
  • Identify potential gaps or discrepancies in scopes before they become project issues
  • Support project teams with estimate interpretation and changes throughout the lifecycle of a claim
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure files meet insurer and internal requirements
  • Conduct site revisits when additional investigation, documentation, or scope validation is required
  • Help ensure estimates balance insurer requirements, construction realities, customer needs, and appropriate project margins
What Successful Candidates Bring
  • Previous estimating experience within the property restoration, insurance repair, or related construction industry
  • Strong working knowledge of Xactimate, including the ability to independently prepare detailed estimates
  • Demonstrated experience working with large loss and complex insurance claims
  • Strong understanding of restoration and reconstruction practices
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, sequencing, labour requirements, and subcontractor scopes
  • Experience working with insurance adjusters and understanding the documentation requirements associated with property claims
  • Ability to interpret drawings, measurements, reports, and site information
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Confidence discussing and supporting estimates with adjusters, consultants, project managers, and trades
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple active files and competing priorities
  • Valid driver's licence and ability to travel to project sites throughout the Lower Mainland
Experience estimating both residential and commercial losses will be considered a strong asset. Industry training or certifications related to restoration, construction, or insurance claims are also valued.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out
This role offers more than a steady volume of straightforward estimates.

You will have the opportunity to work on significant and technically challenging property losses, where your ability to assess damage, build a defensible scope, and understand restoration costs will have a direct impact on project success.

The organization has an established presence in the restoration market and the operational resources to support projects from emergency response through reconstruction. You'll work alongside experienced restoration professionals and have exposure to insurers, consultants, trades, and project teams across the Lower Mainland.

For an Estimator who has developed strong Xactimate skills and is ready to take on more complex files, this is an opportunity to build deeper expertise in large loss restoration estimating while taking meaningful ownership of your work.

Compensation

Salary: $75,000 to $95,000 annually
