The Opportunity
We are recruiting a Site Operations Manager for a high-volume Building Centre that serves as the central operations hub for a Ready-To-Move (RTM) home construction business and two nearby retail locations.
This site builds complete homes (1,500–3,000 sq. ft.), fully finished on-site before being transported to their final destination. The Site Operations Manager plays a critical role in ensuring materials, inventory, logistics, and people are aligned to support efficient builds and timely delivery.
This is a hands-on, on-site leadership role suited to someone with strong construction knowledge, operational discipline, and people management experience.
Key Responsibilities; Operations & Supply Chain Management
- Own procurement and supply planning for RTM home builds and retail supply to two satellite locations
- Ensure all required materials (lumber, trusses, windows, doors, siding, roofing, cabinetry, finishes, etc.) are on-site and available ahead of build schedules
- Manage inventory control, yard organization, and material flow
- Act as the central coordination point for bulk purchasing and distribution
- Schedule and optimize deliveries between locations and to customers
- Coordinate daily routes and workloads for Class 3 driver and yard staff
- Ensure efficient use of company vehicles and equipment
- Directly manage a team of four on-site staff (yard, transportation, estimating, décor support)
- Provide coaching, performance management, and scheduling
- Oversee basic financial and administrative responsibilities related to site operations
- Work closely with the Chef de projet who oversees contractors and build execution
- Support estimating, customer selections, and material decisions tied to customized home builds
- Engage with customers and internal teams where operational input is required
- Materials arrive on time, in sequence, and aligned with build phases
- Yard operations remain organized, efficient, and safe
- Transportation routes are optimized and cost-effective
- Builds are not delayed due to supply or logistics gaps
- Staff are well-supported, accountable, and productive
- Experience in construction, contracting, or residential building
- Hands-on knowledge of building materials and home construction processes
- Prior responsibility for inventory, logistics, or site operations
- Proven people leadership experience
- Comfort working in a rural, on-site environment
- Run operations for a contractor, yard, or build site
- Managed materials for residential construction or renovations
- Progressed through the trades into leadership
- Fully on-site role (typical hours: 8:00am–4:00pm)
