The Role

Reporting to senior leadership, the Senior Policy Planner leads the development of statutory and secondary planning policy that guides growth, land use, and community development. As a senior member of the team, this role provides mentorship and oversight to planning staff while translating Council's strategic vision into implementable policy frameworks.

This position is ideal for a planner who enjoys complex policy work, stakeholder engagement, and cross-departmental collaboration within a municipal setting.

What You Bring

• Degree in Planning or a related field.
• RPP or equivalent designation
• 6+ years of progressive municipal planning experience, including 3+ years in planning policy development.
• Demonstrated experience presenting to Council and facilitating public and stakeholder engagement.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to translate strategic objectives into clear, implementable policy.
• Collaborative, solutions-oriented approach with strong organizational skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office and working knowledge of GIS/mapping tools.

Assets

• Experience supervising or mentoring planning professionals.
• Prior municipal sector experience.
