The Opportunity
Our client is a well-established and industry leader in the building materials distribution industry, serving builders, contractors, developers, and other construction professionals across Alberta and Western Canada. As they continue to invest in their people, processes, and market presence, they are seeking a Regional Sales Manager to lead the Alberta sales process and drive sustainable growth throughout the province.

This is a strategic leadership role responsible for developing and executing regional sales initiatives, elevating the performance of the sales team, strengthening customer relationships, and partnering closely with operational leaders to achieve business objectives. The successful candidate will bring a strong foundation in sales leadership, a passion for coaching and team development, and the ability to implement structured sales processes that improve accountability and long-term performance.

Overview
The Regional Sales Manager will oversee the Alberta sales team while developing and executing sales strategies designed to increase market share, improve customer engagement, and drive revenue growth across the region. This individual will focus on building a high-performance sales culture rooted in planning, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Working closely with Regional General Managers and other cross-functional leaders, the Regional Sales Manager will provide market insights, sales forecasting, and strategic direction to ensure alignment between customer needs and organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing sales team across Alberta.
  • Establish clear expectations, performance standards, and accountability measures.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one coaching sessions, ride-alongs, and performance reviews.
  • Foster a collaborative, customer-focused culture centered around continuous improvement.
  • Plan and facilitate regional sales meetings, training initiatives, and professional development programs.
Sales Strategy & Execution
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive regional sales strategy aligned with company objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for revenue growth, market expansion, and increased customer penetration.
  • Support the sales team in territory planning, opportunity management, and strategic account development.
  • Build and execute key account plans for major customers and strategic partners.
  • Enhance existing sales processes and implement best practices to improve effectiveness and consistency.
Customer & Market Development
  • Support the development and maintenance of strong relationships with builders, contractors, developers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Ensure customers receive exceptional service and value throughout every stage of the sales and supply process.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, customer feedback, and emerging opportunities to inform regional strategies.
  • Represent the organization within the industry and strengthen the company's market presence throughout Alberta.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner closely with Regional General Managers to align sales initiatives with operational capabilities and business priorities.
  • Participate in annual budgeting, strategic planning, and resource allocation discussions.
  • Collaborate with operations, customer service, marketing, and other departments to ensure a seamless customer experience.
  • Work alongside other Regional Sales Managers and national leadership teams to evolve sales structures, tools, and best practices across the organization.
Sales Operations & Reporting
  • Develop accurate sales forecasts and provide regular reporting on regional performance.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Utilize and assist with implementing CRM systems and reporting tools to improve pipeline visibility, opportunity management, and team productivity.
  • Provide ongoing market intelligence and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Proven success in a sales leadership role with responsibility for managing and developing sales teams.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing structured sales processes, coaching methodologies, and performance management practices.
  • Strong strategic planning and business development capabilities.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, interpret market trends, and translate insights into actionable plans.
  • Experience within the building materials, construction, manufacturing, or distribution sectors is considered a strong asset.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and sales reporting tools.
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout Alberta as required.
