Our Client, a highly respected, international Architecture, Design & Engineering firm is seeking a senior, entrepreneurial Architect to join its Western Canada leadership team. This is a strategic leadership opportunity for an individual with the capability and ambition to grow and lead a discipline, shape market presence, and play a key role in the firm’s long-term regional strategy.
This role is ideal for a Senior Architect, Associate, or Principal who is operating — or aspiring to operate — at a Partner-level, with a strong balance of design leadership, business development, client strategy, and people leadership.
The successful candidate will be trusted with market growth, client development, and team leadership, while remaining deeply engaged in the delivery of complex, high-quality architectural projects across Western Canada.

You will help define and execute strategic growth initiatives, strengthen client relationships, and mentor the next generation of architectural leaders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership & Practice Growth
- Contribute to the strategic direction and growth of the architectural practice in Alberta and Western Canada.
- Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities, including key pursuits, proposals, and long-term client relationships.
- Actively build and expand a personal and firm-wide client network across priority sectors.
- Partner with regional and national leadership to align local growth with broader firm strategy.
- Represent the firm externally through industry events, client meetings, and thought leadership.
- Provide senior design leadership across complex, multidisciplinary projects.
- Ensure design solutions are innovative, technically sound, sustainable, and aligned with client and community objectives.
- Maintain a strong presence in design reviews, quality assurance, and high-level decision-making.
- Serve as a primary client contact on key accounts.
- Build long-term, trusted relationships that lead to repeat work and expanded scope.
- Guide clients through complex challenges with clarity, confidence, and strategic insight.
- Lead, mentor, and develop architectural teams, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and collaboration.
- Support the growth of Associates and Senior Architects through coaching, performance development, and succession planning.
- Play an active role in recruiting, retaining, and developing top talent.
- Provide senior-level oversight across all project phases, ensuring delivery aligns with scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, interior design, and consulting teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Professional degree in Architecture (Master’s preferred).
- Registered Architect in Canada (AAA, AIBC, or ability to transfer registration).
- 10+ years of progressive experience, including leadership roles within established architectural or A/E firms.
- Demonstrated success in client development, market growth, or business leadership.
- Strong portfolio of complex projects across sectors such as healthcare, education, civic, commercial, or infrastructure-related work.
- Proven ability to lead teams, influence strategy, and grow a practice.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to build, grow, and leave a lasting impact.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
