DMC Recruitment is supporting a large, privately held building materials supplier with the recruitment of a Division Sales Manager for the South Puget Sound market.

This is a new regional sales leadership role focused on developing a growing team, strengthening sales performance, and expanding relationships with builders, contractors, remodelers, and construction professionals.

The successful candidate will inherit an established customer base and a capable sales group with a mix of experienced and developing team members, while leveraging a well-respected and trusted brand that has earned strong recognition and long-standing relationships throughout the market.

This opportunity will suit a commercially minded sales leader who enjoys coaching people, developing customer strategy, and creating sustainable growth within a collaborative and entrepreneurial business.

The Opportunity

This role is designed for an experienced sales leader who wants the autonomy to build a team, influence regional strategy, and take ownership of commercial performance.

You will lead a multi-location sales group across the South Puget Sound market, working closely with sales, branch, and operational leadership to improve account development, customer coverage, and team capability.

The foundation is already in place. The priority is to strengthen the team, recruit selectively where required, and create greater consistency in how customers are developed and supported.

The role reports to the Regional Sales Manager and offers meaningful input into the direction and continued growth of the region.

Key elements of the role include:
  • Leading, coaching, and developing a regional sales team
  • Recruiting and onboarding additional talent where required
  • Growing market share across South Puget Sound
  • Expanding relationships with builders, contractors, remodelers, and regional customers
  • Improving account penetration across the company's wider product and service offering
  • Supporting salespeople with customer strategy, negotiation, and commercial decision-making
  • Building greater consistency across sales planning, account development, and team performance
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a multi-location team of sales professionals
  • Establish clear expectations and provide regular coaching, support, and performance feedback
  • Recruit and onboard sales talent where required
  • Develop regional sales and customer growth plans
  • Strengthen relationships with builders, contractors, remodelers, and key accounts
  • Help salespeople identify and develop opportunities within existing and prospective accounts
  • Support commercial negotiations involving pricing, service, and customer agreements
  • Partner with branch and operational leaders to deliver a consistent customer experience
  • Encourage collaboration across the sales team and wider business
  • Monitor sales activity, customer development, and regional performance
  • Identify barriers to growth and implement practical improvements
  • Contribute ideas and help shape the commercial direction of the region
Ideal Profile

Mandatory
  • Proven experience leading and developing a sales team
  • Strong personal sales capability and the credibility to coach others
  • Experience working with builders, contractors, construction professionals, or comparable B2B customers
  • Commercial experience involving account development, pricing, or negotiation
  • Ability to lead a team across multiple locations
  • Willingness to travel regularly throughout the South Puget Sound market
  • Strong communication, organisation, and relationship-management skills
Strongly Preferred
  • Experience within building materials, construction supply, contractor distribution, or a related sector
  • Track record of recruiting, onboarding, and retaining sales talent
  • Experience developing both established salespeople and newer team members
  • Understanding of regional account planning and market development
  • Experience working within a privately held or entrepreneurial business
Nice to Have
  • Existing relationships within the South Puget Sound construction market
  • Experience across multiple building-product categories
  • Knowledge of custom builders, regional builders, or remodelling contractors
  • Experience supporting a multi-branch or multi-location sales operation
Candidates do not need to come from one specific building-product category. Relevant backgrounds may include building materials distribution, construction products, contractor supply, manufacturing, or another closely related industry.

The strongest candidates will combine sales leadership, people development, and relevant customer knowledge. Direct experience in every area listed above is not required.

Compensation & Incentives
  • Base salary of $120,000-$150,000
  • Expected total compensation of $185,000+
  • Quarterly performance bonus
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • Additional flexibility may be available for an exceptional candidate
The incentive plan rewards commercial performance and the growth of the regional business.

Why This Role

This is an opportunity to shape a new leadership position within a substantial, privately held building materials business.

You will inherit an established platform rather than start from zero, while still having the freedom to improve the team, influence strategy, and build the next stage of regional growth.

The business combines the resources and market presence of a major supplier with a practical, locally responsive operating style. Leaders are expected to contribute ideas, make informed decisions, and take ownership of results.

For an experienced sales leader who wants meaningful autonomy, visible commercial impact, and the opportunity to develop a strong regional team, this is a compelling long-term opportunity.
