About the Opportunity:
A well-established North American distributor and fabricator of industrial plastics is seeking a skilled CNC Operator / Operations Specialist to join its operations team. The organization supports customers across industrial, manufacturing, construction, and fabrication markets, providing precision-machined plastic components and technical material solutions.
This is a hands-on role suited for a technically capable professional who enjoys working with CNC equipment, interpreting design drawings, and contributing directly to high-quality production outcomes.
What You’ll Do In this key operations role, you will be responsible for:
- Operating CNC machinery (routers, mills, lathes, or similar equipment) to machine engineered plastics to specification
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD files (AutoCAD experience required)
- Programming, setting up, and adjusting CNC equipment for production and custom jobs
- Working with design and CAM tools to translate customer and engineering requirements into accurate machining programs
- Performing quality inspections to ensure dimensional accuracy and adherence to tolerances
- Collaborating with internal teams to support order fulfillment, scheduling, and production flow
- Maintaining equipment, tooling, and a safe, organized shop environment
- Troubleshooting machining issues and identifying opportunities for process improvement
- Assisting with material handling, staging, and basic inventory coordination as needed
- Hands-on CNC operating experience in a production or fabrication environment
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and comfort with technical drawings
- Solid understanding of machining processes, plastics materials, and production workflows
- Experience setting up and adjusting CNC programs, feeds, and speeds
- High attention to detail with a commitment to quality and safety
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, reliable work ethic
- Experience with CAM software or additional design tools
- Background in plastics machining or engineered materials
- Forklift or material-handling experience
