Business Development Manager - Building Materials
Location: Toronto, ON
Compensation: $80,000 base + uncapped commissions + car allowance + expenses + benefits

We are partnering with a growing and well-respected supplier of architectural building materials to find a Business Development Manager based in Toronto. The ideal candidate brings a strong network in the A&D community, general contractors, and sub-trades, with a proven track record of driving sales and managing client relationships from concept through to execution.
This is a dynamic, client-facing role requiring equal parts strategic sales acumen, design consultation experience, and project knowledge.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for generating new business, nurturing key accounts, and securing product specifications across commercial, education, and healthcare projects. This person will represent the company at client meetings, industry events, and presentations, while collaborating closely with internal teams on pricing, technical drawings, and RFP responses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities with architects, designers, contractors, developers, and end users.
  • Conduct product presentations, lunch-and-learns, and CEU sessions to promote offerings and drive specifications.
  • Maintain strong relationships within the A&D market, project management firms, and general contractors.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (estimating, design, and operations) to ensure proper execution of project intent.
  • Respond to RFPs and client inquiries with detailed product knowledge and design-driven solutions.
  • Maintain CRM data, sales forecasts, and activity logs.
  • Represent the brand through social media, trade shows, showroom events, and client-facing engagements.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, competitor offerings, and client needs.
  • Provide feedback to help shape product development and marketing strategy.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of business development or sales experience in the building materials or construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of architectural and interior design processes.
  • Established network within the A&D community in the GTA.
  • Ability to read drawings and understand construction details is an asset.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools and Microsoft Office.
  • A confident communicator and natural relationship-builder.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and goal-oriented.
  • Valid driver's license and access to vehicle required (car allowance provided).
