DMC Recruitment has been retained to find a General Manager for a new truss, floor and lumber operation in the Edmonton market.

This is an opportunity for an experienced building materials leader who wants more than simply stepping into an established branch. You'll have the chance to help build the operation, develop the team, establish relationships in the market and play a key role in growing the business from the ground up.

We're looking for someone who understands the Edmonton residential construction market and knows the truss, EWP and lumber business. You should be equally comfortable working with customers, reviewing a set of plans, understanding take-offs and estimating, and leading the operational side of the business.

What You'll Do

• Lead the launch and day-to-day management of the Edmonton operation
• Build and develop a strong sales, estimating, design and operations team
• Develop relationships with home builders, contractors and other key customers throughout the Edmonton market
• Drive sales growth and establish the company as a strong competitor in the market
• Oversee truss, floor/EWP and lumber estimating, quoting and project requirements
• Understand and review lumber take-offs, plans and construction drawings
• Work closely with customers from initial quote through production and delivery
• Establish strong processes around pricing, margins, inventory, scheduling and customer service
• Oversee operational performance and ensure commitments to customers are met
• Manage budgets, profitability and overall branch performance
• Create a culture where people are accountable, customers are looked after and the team works together

What We're Looking For

You've built your career in the lumber, truss, EWP or residential building materials industry and understand how the different pieces of the business work together.

You have experience leading people and running an operation, but you're still comfortable being hands-on when needed. You understand estimating and take-offs, can read construction plans and know what builders and contractors expect from their suppliers.

Most importantly, you're someone who likes building things. A team, a customer base, an operation and ultimately a successful business.
Experience in the Edmonton and Northern Alberta building materials market and established industry relationships would be a strong asset.
