Our long-term client is a well-known manufacturer of premium interior surfacing products. Providing industry leading products with exceptional service levels has enabled this business to thrive for more than half a century.

Due to steady, and ever-increasing demand for their unique range of products, my client is seeking a Specification Sales Representative to call on the local specifier market (Architects & Designers), to manage and further develop the NYC Metro Territory (Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx, Staten Island). Territorial coverage also includes major Urban Centers in Southern Connecticut and Northern New Jersey. This region has been well managed by a long term Representative, and has an active pipeline of projects and a strong customer base already established within the region.

They are seeking an individual who is looking for a long term growth opportunity, as they develop employees and promote from within. Many of the individuals we have placed with them over the years have moved on to new and exciting internal opportunities, remaining within the business long-term.

Behavioral attributes they are seeking in this Specification Sales position include; desire to learn and grow/improve, goal orientation, passion for design, honest & genuine sales approach to customers and responsible/responsive.

This role is home office based with travel throughout the territory as required for appropriate coverage. The position will be responsible for representing the line to Architects + Designers and other specifiers via in person meetings, updating libraries, giving presentations, conducting lunch and learns, hosting industry events and attending trade shows, etc. Very occasional overnight travel may be required - up to 5%.

The candidate needs to be based in either Brooklyn or Queens due to concentration of accounts, and will have some previous experience working as either a Specification Sales (A+D) Representative, Manufacturers Representative, Interior Designer or Showroom Designer/Rep. An education, background or passion for interior design will also be viewed as an advantage.
  • Call on Architects & Designers to promote the line or products and provide ongoing education and support
  • Follow projects through to completion in order to "hold the spec"
  • Conduct regular training and education meetings and lunch and learns with clients
  • Host and attend industry events and tradeshows as required
  • Build a strong pipeline of sales opportunities
  • Organized and self motivated when working in a home office setting
  • Minimal/no overnight travel
  • The successful applicant must hold a valid drivers license and be able to clear educational and criminal background checks as required by the client.

Salary Range Transparency - base salary for this particular position will be $85,000 - $95,000 per anum plus bonus, company car, benefits, 401k, depending on experience.
