Overview: Reporting to the Director, Business Development, the Technical Sales Representative will play a crucial role in driving growth and promoting our innovative product solutions. This position is heavily focused on building relationships with EPCM companies and project owners, with an emphasis on candidates who have experience and established connections within the mining industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Business Development: Proactively identify and cultivate new business opportunities by building and nurturing relationships with EPCM firms, mining companies, owners, and their engineers. Leverage your knowledge of the mining sector to drive adoption of our product solutions through strategic introductions and relationship building with key decision-makers in major mining projects.
Technical Collaboration and Process Management: Professionally engage with owners and EPCM companies to understand project requirements and assist with awarded projects, ensuring Victaulic is specified in their designs. Overcome obstacles or hesitations by providing comprehensive product and application training and technical information. Collaborate with area Victaulic reps and technical teams to provide complete client support including pricing, design assistance, layout optimization, and cost-effective solutions.
Trusted Advisor Role: Provide clients with support from start to finish by co-managing the complete process and building relationships where clients view Victaulic as their trusted industry advisor. Develop compelling business cases that demonstrate the value and ROI of our solutions for large-scale mining and industrial projects. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of our product's technical scope and applications within mining, mineral processing, and heavy industrial environments.
Stakeholder Engagement: Establish and sustain close contact with EPCM firms, mining engineers, project managers, and owner's engineers to influence specification decisions. Conduct technical presentations and facility visits to support business development initiatives and ensure proper product application.
Required Qualifications:
Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Business. A Master's degree in Engineering or MBA is a significant asset.
Industry Experience: Minimum 10-15 years of extensive experience within the mining industry, particularly working with EPCM companies and major mining operations. Proven track record in technical sales and relationship management with mining companies, engineering firms, and industrial contractors. Understanding of mining project lifecycles, from feasibility through construction and commissioning.
Technical and Process Skills: Strong technical aptitude with ability to engage in piping system specifications, process design discussions, and mining application problem-solving. Experience with mining processes, mineral processing, tailings management, or related industrial applications. Excellent project management skills with ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders across complex mining and industrial projects.
Communication Skills: Outstanding communication and presentation skills with ability to effectively convey technical information to mining engineers, EPCM project teams, and C-suite executives. Professional demeanor with focus on building long-term relationships as a trusted technical advisor.
Mobility: Willingness to travel extensively to mining sites, EPCM offices, and industrial facilities throughout the region and potentially internationally.
Compensation: $100-120K/annum salary with uncapped commission
