Subcontracts Administrator

Responsibilities

Negotiates the most significant contracts or contract modifications, often under difficult conditions. Draws upon broad prior experience to effectively negotiate the most favored terms and conditions with prospective and current clients while achieving Company objectives.

Engage, discuss implications and implement change orders
• Work with procurement, design, technical and construction teams to engage and execute contracts with preferred subcontractors.
• Work with the CM to develop and implement a project-wide Subcontract Administration Policy
• Supervise and mentor junior subcontract administrators and coordinators in contractual awareness and functions
• Support and mentor design, technical and construction teams in subcontract awareness and commercial management
• Compile subcontract reports as required by project management
• Maintain records of Subcontractor claims and off-sets for project forecasting
• Prepare and present monthly Subcontract accruals and forecasts
• Draft and administer subcontract correspondence using Aconex
• Monitor notice and response timelines, and coordinate project team inputs to ensure compliance
• Administer change interfaces with key designers and subcontractors
• Research, analyze and develop positions on contractual entitlement for presentation to the Contract Manager

Essential:
• 7+ years of subcontract administration, coordination and/or management on a Major Project construction team
• Some field/site-based experience
• Contractor-side experience
• Post-secondary degree in the fields of construction, engineering, legal, quantity surveying, or business administration
• Experience in P3, Design-Build-Finance, or EPC Prime Contracts
• Ability to work in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (this position is not remotely or rotationally based)

Preferred:
• Subcontract administration experience with JV Contractors
• Administration of third-party Design Agreements
• Infrastructure and/or Rail design and construction phase experience
• Experience using JD Edwards and Aconex
