We Asked Our New Real Estate Recruiter, Lily Brooks, to Answer Some Questions

At DMC Recruitment, our recruiters are more than industry experts, they are trusted partners who bring passion and dedication to every search. This month, we are shining a light on Lily, a seasoned recruiter who recently joined our Real Estate and Property Management team. With over a decade of experience, Lily’s story and insights reflect the drive, adaptability, and people-first approach that make her so effective in her work.

We asked Lily a few questions to learn more about her journey and perspective. Connect with Lily on Linkedin here

Q: Why did you choose Property Management recruitment?

Lily: Like most recruiters, I did not grow up dreaming of this career, but once I found it, I knew I had discovered the right path. Thirteen years ago, I stepped into a recruiter role with little industry knowledge. My very first placement was a Property Accountant, and he stayed in that role for 11 years. That experience set the tone for my career.

What stood out most was not just the work, it was the people. The Property Management industry welcomed me with patience, kindness, and an incredible sense of community. Over the years, I have met professionals in every role, and they share the same traits, hardworking, supportive, and fun. That is my “why.” Simple as that.

Q: What do you enjoy most about recruitment?

Lily: I truly enjoy helping people. It might sound corny, but I believe being in a job you love has a huge impact on your life. Helping candidates find a role that excites them, and helping clients build teams that make a real difference, is deeply rewarding.

I also enjoy the pace. No two days are ever the same, and they always seem to fly by because I genuinely love what I do.

Q: What advice would you give someone considering a career in recruitment?

Lily: Recruitment comes with more highs and more lows than most careers. It is easy to get swept away by the wins or weighed down by the challenges. My advice is to stay balanced, celebrate the successes, learn from the setbacks, and keep doing the work. That is how you find long term success without burning out.

Q: What has surprised you most about working at DMC?

Lily: I had never worked entirely from home before, so I wondered if I might feel isolated. I was pleasantly surprised to find a strong culture here, full of supportive and welcoming people. Even working remotely, I feel part of a bigger team, and the level of collaboration has been incredible.

Q: If a recruiter were an animal, what would it be?

Lily: A blend of a Honey Badger and a Fox. The Honey Badger for the grit and persistence it takes to succeed in recruitment, and the Fox for the cleverness and adaptability needed to thrive.

With her depth of experience, unwavering determination, and genuine care for both clients and candidates, Lily has quickly become an integral part of our Real Estate and Property Management division. We are proud to have her expertise on the DMC team.
