About the Role
As a Service Technician, you'll take the lead in maintaining and optimizing Caterpillar engines (including G3508 models) and a range of commercial natural gas and diesel generators. This dynamic, hands-on role is perfect for a mechanically inclined individual with strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to interpret schematics.
What You'll Do
Caterpillar Engine & Generator Maintenance
Perform inspections, servicing, and repairs on Caterpillar G3508 engines, natural gas generators, and diesel generators, ensuring peak performance.
Diagnose and resolve issues related to cooling, lubrication, and electrical subsystems.
Electrical & Mechanical Systems
Electrical: Maintain and troubleshoot components such as panels, wiring, motors, and controls, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
Mechanical: Inspect and repair systems like compressors, pumps, heat exchangers, piping, valves, and actuators, ensuring equipment meets industry standards.
Advanced Troubleshooting & Repairs
Use schematics, diagnostic tools, and mechanical knowledge to identify and repair complex malfunctions.
Execute precision adjustments on high-pressure gas systems for optimal safety and functionality.
Station Inspections & General Maintenance
Conduct routine inspections of CNG, RNG, and hydrogen fueling stations to ensure operational standards are met.
Perform tasks like equipment cleaning, minor repairs, and landscaping to maintain station cleanliness and safety.
Documentation & Compliance
Log maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs using service software.
Ensure all work adheres to safety and regulatory requirements.
Travel & On-Call Support
Travel between job sites in the region, with occasional coverage in neighboring areas as needed.
Be available for on-call duties, ensuring reliable operation of critical infrastructure.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications in mechanical or electrical systems preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience working with Caterpillar engines, natural gas generators, or similar equipment. CAT credentials.
Skills & Knowledge
Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with Caterpillar engines (especially G3508 models) and commercial generator systems.
Ability to read and interpret schematics, troubleshoot complex systems, and work independently.
Familiarity with high-pressure gas systems and alternative fuel technologies is a plus.
Licenses
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally, with or without assistance.
Comfortable performing tasks such as walking, standing, climbing, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
