Senior Property Accountant/Controller

The Right Fit:

This role reports directly to ownership and works closely with the Property Manager on day-to-day financial operations, budgeting, recoveries, and overall asset performance.

This is a full-cycle, A to Z accounting role responsible for a portfolio of commercial properties. The position suits someone who takes ownership of their work, is detail-oriented, and enjoys working closely with operations to drive results.

The role offers long-term growth, with the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities as the portfolio expands. A professional accounting designation is required, along with strong experience in commercial property accounting.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of industrial and retail properties
  • Preparation of monthly financial statements, including P&L, balance sheet, and variance analysis
  • Annual budgeting and reforecasting in collaboration with the Property Manager
  • CAM recoveries, reconciliations, and tenant billings
  • Accounts payable and receivable, including vendor and tenant communication
  • Bank and GL reconciliations, journal entries, and working papers
  • Supporting year-end processes and working with external accountants
  • Monitoring operating costs and identifying opportunities to improve performance
What You Bring to the Table:
  • CPA designation is ideal
  • 7+ years of commercial property accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of recoveries, leases, and property-level financial reporting
  • Experience working closely with property management teams
  • High attention to detail and strong ownership of work
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and Excel
  • Ability to manage multiple properties and deadlines independently
  • Yardi experience is a definite asset
