Our client is a growing, entrepreneurial business looking for a Senior Accountant who wants to be more than the person who simply reports the numbers.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being close to the business, understands how the numbers connect to operations, and can provide management with the financial information they need to make good decisions.
You'll have ownership across the accounting function, from the day-to-day details through to financial analysis, month-end and year-end.
This would suit someone who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves but also has the ability to step back, identify trends and help improve how the business operates.

You'll have ownership across the accounting function, from the day-to-day details through to financial analysis, month-end and year-end.

What You'll Do
- Manage the full accounting cycle and day-to-day financial activities
- Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable
- Manage payroll, remittances and employee benefits administration
- Lead month-end and year-end close
- Prepare financial statements and management reporting
- Complete bank, balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations
- Prepare journal entries, accruals and other month-end adjustments
- Provide financial analysis around margins, costs, trends and business performance
- Assist management with budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning
- Monitor AR and collections and help ensure healthy cash flow
- Prepare year-end working papers and work with external accountants and auditors
- Maintain strong financial controls while keeping processes practical and efficient
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, reporting and accounting processes
- Work directly with management and operations to understand what's happening in the business behind the numbers
- Take ownership of issues, investigate discrepancies and find solutions
We're looking for someone who is commercially minded, hands-on and comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment.

Ideally, you bring:
- 5+ years of progressive, full-cycle accounting experience
- Strong experience with AR, AP, payroll and benefits
- Solid month-end and year-end experience
- Experience preparing financial statements and management reporting
- Strong financial analysis skills
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting and cash flow
- Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting or ERP systems
- The ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial people
- Strong attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger picture
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- CPA designation or progress toward a CPA is an asset, but hands-on experience and business acumen are equally important
