LRT System Manager - Edmonton
The Light Rail Transit (LRT) Systems Manager leads and manages a team of project managers and subject matter experts to deliver rail systems projects and initiatives.
This role ensures safe, high-quality service delivery, manages emergent situations, and oversees planned service disruptions.

The Light Rail Transit (LRT) Systems Manager leads and manages a team of project managers and subject matter experts to deliver rail systems projects and initiatives.
This role ensures safe, high-quality service delivery, manages emergent situations, and oversees planned service disruptions.
Main accountabilities:
Responsible for the management of the scope of work in the project.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage all project department such as Safety, Quality, Procurement, Design, construction, contract, finance;
- Ensure, with the support of the Safety team, a Safe Workplace through the strict application of procedures;
- Ensure, with the support of the quality team, that the construction works are undertaken to required designs, specifications, standards and HSQE requirements;
- Manage the completion design documents, drawing and as-built drawings
- Communicate effectively with the Rail Team to build on team morale, positive work attitude and performance.
- Ensure project cost control management;
- Deliver the project on time and on budget;
- Develop with the project team, management tools, monitoring and reporting of technical, time and cost;
- Represent company in meetings with the Employer Representative, consultants and partners;
- Negotiate Extension of Time and other claims related to the contract;
- Manage project taking over process;
- Technical leadership: Providing technical direction for rail system construction
- Project management: Leading and managing projects, including electrification and signal infrastructure
- Personnel management: Supervising project managers, design managers, construction managers, and subject matter experts
- Engineering support: Providing engineering support for maintenance, including troubleshooting and testing of signaling and traction power systems
- System reliability and safety: Ensuring system safety and reliability, including developing and implementing safety initiatives
- Budget management: Managing budgets, optimizing resource allocation, and controlling costs
- Contract management: Overseeing contracts and procurement for maintenance and critical spares
- Compliance: Ensuring compliance with industry standards
Position Requirements:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Masters level being preferred.
- Professional Engineering Designation required.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience required.
- 5-7 years of experience in traction power, rail signal and communication systems are required.
- 5-10 years of experience supervising other management or professional level staff are required.
