Our client is seeking a seasoned and dynamic Human Resources Manager to oversee all HR and Health & Safety activities across a network of store locations, supporting a workforce of 1,000 non-union employees.
 
Reporting directly to the Chief Operations Manager, this role requires a relationship-focused individual who prioritizes intentional, personalized communication with store Owners and Managers, fostering trust and collaboration.
 
The HR Manager will directly manage the HR Coordinator and OHS Coordinator and will provide tailored HR and Health & Safety solutions to store teams. Key responsibilities include supporting stores with employment policies and procedures, managing recruitment activities, monitoring employee reviews, overseeing performance appraisals, and designing in-house training initiatives.
 
Key responsibilities include supporting stores with employment policies and procedures, managing recruitment activities, monitoring employee reviews, overseeing performance appraisals, and designing in-house training initiatives. The role also involves managing the ADP Workforce Now HRIS platform, facilitating Town Hall meetings, and leading updates to HR documents and training plans. On the Health & Safety front, the HR Manager will ensure compliance with OHS guidelines, oversee Return-to-Work cases and WCB claims, facilitate safety training, and implement annual store safety audits.
 
Human Resources Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary support for stores on all employment policies and procedures.
  • Oversee performance appraisals, goal-setting, and recruitment strategies, including career fairs and recruiter engagement.
  • Monitor and respond to online employee reviews.
  • Curate and oversee training initiatives, including selecting trainers, designing workshops, and managing an in-house e-course library.
  • Manage ADP Workforce Now HRIS platform for employee features and onboarding.
  • Organize quarterly Town Hall meetings and ensure up-to-date HR documents and training resources.
Health & Safety Responsibilities:
  • Support compliance with OHS guidelines and act as the management representative for the JOHSC for Head Office.
  • Lead the rollout of new OHS procedures and facilitate annual store safety audits.
  • Oversee Return-to-Work cases, WCB and LTD claims, and provide safety training.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or CPHR designation.
  • Familiarity with ADP Workforce Now is an asset.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft and Google Office systems.
  • Sound knowledge of employment law and associated regulations.
Experience:
  • Proven success overseeing employees across multiple locations.
  • Strong understanding of HR and OHS best practices.
  • Background in Lumber Building Materials (LBM) is a bonus.
Compensation:
  • 100,000 to 115,000 per year
