Our client, a well-established and growing building materials supplier with a strong presence across British Columbia, is seeking a Director of Contractor Sales to lead and elevate its contractor sales division.
Operating a network of contractor-focused and home improvement locations throughout the province, our client is known for operational excellence, strong supplier partnerships, and a commitment to long-term customer relationships. This role is based out of the Fraser Valley and plays a critical part in driving performance, profitability, and strategic growth across multiple locations.

The Opportunity The Director of Contractor Sales is a senior leadership role responsible for:
- Strengthening existing contractor and vendor partnerships
- Developing new business opportunities
- Coaching and mentoring Inside and Outside Contractor Sales teams
- Overseeing engineered wood design and fabrication operations
- Driving financial performance across sales, margin, inventory, and delivery functions
Key Areas of Responsibility Sales Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and mentor all Contractor Sales professionals across locations
- Develop structured pipeline management processes
- Establish and track budgets, KPIs, and performance metrics
- Build individualized development plans for sales team members
- Facilitate bi-weekly sales meetings and ongoing performance accountability
- Conduct weekly A/R reviews with executive leadership
- Oversee salesperson accountability related to margins, special orders, returns, and budgets
- Support collections processes, including legal remedies when required
- Manage inventory planning, turns, and purchasing execution
- Prepare comprehensive annual location and contractor sales budgets
- Forecast market fluctuations and year-over-year growth targets
- Monitor gross margin dollars and percentages across locations
- Ensure next-day delivery capabilities across all branches
- Oversee fleet management, rotation planning, and repair cost analysis
- Improve delivery efficiency through analytics and technology
- Reduce company-wide cost per delivery
- Lead implementation and optimization of internal ERP/DDMS systems
- Drive integration of emerging contractor-focused software platforms
- Promote consistent system adoption across all branches
- Conduct quarterly strategic reviews with key building material suppliers
- Collaborate closely with Supply Chain leadership
- Represent the organization within industry associations (e.g., CHBA, regional building associations, Chambers of Commerce)
- Lead customer engagement initiatives including supplier trade shows and regional events
- Conduct quarterly executive-level meetings with top contractor accounts
- Review quarterly sales and margin performance for top customers
- Drive account growth strategies across major markets
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Business, Marketing, or related field
- 10+ years of progressive sales and/or marketing leadership experience
- Experience leading multi-location or regional sales teams
- Deep understanding of residential construction and building materials
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated passion for mentoring and developing others
