As a key member of the Senior Finance Team, the Controller will direct all financial accounting, controls, and systems, ensuring the organization’s fiscal health and compliance while driving efficiency across all accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities
The Controller will oversee and manage the accounting, accounts payable, and payroll functions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information by implementing and maintaining robust accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. This role involves directing financial system upgrades, managing relationships with independent auditors, and developing strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness across accounting functions.
The Controller will hire, train, and retain skilled finance and payroll staff while supporting the integration of financial teams, processes, and systems for future mergers and acquisitions. Additionally, they will provide financial analysis, projections, and recommendations to stakeholders and perform other related responsibilities as needed to ensure the organization’s financial success and compliance.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Exceptional ability to monitor, allocate, and control finances on a large scale for a scaling business.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong leadership and managerial abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of finance, accounting, and internal controls.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Adaptability to a changing environment and ability to drive change effectively.
- Proven ability to present complex financial analyses and projections to stakeholders.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in leadership positions within a financial department.
- Proven track record of successfully leading teams in accounting and finance.
- Experience communicating complex financial reports in simplified terms to stakeholders.
- M&A transaction and integration experience is an asset.
- Experience in the construction or building supplies industry is considered an asset.
- Undergraduate degree in business, accounting, finance, or related field.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent.
- MBA is considered an asset.
120,000 to 160,000 per year plus bonus
