Exciting leadership sales opportunity with a large family owned and run concrete supplier.
* Relocate to beautiful Victoria! *
Concrete Sales Manager - Victoria, BC
Compensation: Up to $150,000 + Company Vehicle + Benefits + Relocation Support + Pension + Perks
About the Opportunity
A well-established, multi-plant ready-mix and aggregates operation on Vancouver Island is searching for a Concrete Sales Manager to lead commercial growth, manage key accounts, and drive long-term strategy in a competitive three-player market.
This position is mission-critical — the company has five depots, multiple pits, a large modern delivery fleet, and significant production capacity, but they need a proven sales leader who can bring in volume while protecting margins and elevating customer relationships. Success here directly impacts growth, profitability, and market share.
The ideal candidate comes from the concrete or construction materials sector, has technical credibility, and knows how to build trust with contractors, engineers, developers, estimators, and senior decision makers.
Why This Role Is Different
High-Level Sales Leadership
✔ Concrete & commercial experience is essential: Strong knowledge of ready-mix, batch plants, logistics, QC, and commercial project delivery. Background from other large concrete suppliers is a major advantage.
✔ Sales leadership, not operations: Previous mis-hires drifted too heavily into dispatch, trucking, and operations. You will stay customer-focused and strategic — not managing drivers and fleet issues.
✔ Psychological and sales profile matters: Ability to regulate emotions under pressure, handle tough customer conversations, and represent the business professionally at all levels. (Psychometric testing will be part of hiring.)
✔ Strategic thinker: Understands margins, pricing discipline, competitor constraints, and how to win profitable bids — not "lowest quote wins" mentality.

The ideal candidate comes from the concrete or construction materials sector, has technical credibility, and knows how to build trust with contractors, engineers, developers, estimators, and senior decision makers.
Why This Role Is Different
- The company dominates two-thirds of its regional market, with the strongest production capacity on the island.
- No corporate bureaucracy: decisions are made quickly; leadership is hands-on and growth-focused.
- Emphasis on selling value over lowest price — previous hires struggled because they "sold on discount," not strategy.
- A culture of relationship building: this team hosts clients for golf, dinners, events, and even seaside outings, sea-doos, BBQs, and property hospitality experiences.
- Open to candidates outside Vancouver Island, including relocation from Ontario, Alberta, Prairie provinces, and Eastern Canada. Relocation assistance available.
High-Level Sales Leadership
- Lead commercial strategy for large, complex, schedule-driven projects — high rises, infrastructure, industrial builds, and multi-developer projects.
- Proactively hunt new business — not an order desk role; we need someone who understands sales funnel management, pipelines, forecasting, and strategic pursuit.
- Manage 3-5 direct sales staff (technical reps + residential oversight) while spending 70% of time on commercial clients.
- Maintain and deepen relationships with top general contractors, developers, commercial builders, and engineering firms across Southern Vancouver Island.
- Understand competitor capacity, awarded projects, and market timing to protect margins and sell value, not price.
- Know how to navigate tough site superintendents one hour and present to C-suite executives the next. Emotional regulation, communication, and adaptability are vital.
- Strong working knowledge of concrete mix design, batching, QC, EPDs, green / low-carbon products, admixtures, fly ash, and performance-based specifications.
- Ability to talk technically with engineers about curing times, performance specs, sustainability data, embodied carbon, and green alternatives.
- Work closely with dispatch, operations, QC, and leadership to align scheduling, pricing, risk, and service capability.
- Contribute input to quoting tools, CRM improvement, and modernizing technology stack (moving off spreadsheets to scalable digital systems).
