The Opportunity
Our client is an established and highly respected building materials distributor serving residential and commercial construction customers throughout the Calgary market.
They are looking for an Assistant Branch Manager to support the day-to-day leadership of a busy, high-volume branch. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in building materials, construction supply or distribution who is ready to take the next step in their leadership career.
Working closely with the Branch Manager, you will help oversee inside sales, customer service, logistics and overall branch operations, while supporting a team-focused culture and ensuring customers receive a consistently high level of service.
This is a hands-on position. The successful candidate will be visible on the floor, involved with the team and comfortable jumping in wherever needed to keep the branch running effectively.

What You'll Do
- Support the Branch Manager with the overall day-to-day operation of the branch.
- Provide leadership, coaching and support to the inside sales and customer service team.
- Help coordinate branch operations, order flow, logistics and distribution.
- Ensure customers receive knowledgeable, responsive and professional service.
- Assist the team in developing solutions for contractors, builders and other construction customers.
- Work closely with sales, warehouse and logistics teams to ensure orders are accurate and delivered on time.
- Help manage customer concerns, order issues and operational challenges.
- Support inventory management and ensure appropriate product availability.
- Assist with scheduling, workload planning and day-to-day staffing requirements.
- Help establish priorities and ensure the team is working effectively during busy periods.
- Support the Branch Manager with employee development, coaching and performance.
- Maintain a safe, organized and professional branch environment.
- Build strong relationships with employees and create a positive, collaborative workplace culture.
- Step into the Branch Manager's responsibilities when required.
- Identify opportunities to improve customer service, operational efficiency and overall branch performance.
- Experience within building materials, construction supply, lumber, masonry, hardscapes or a related distribution environment.
- Previous experience in a supervisory, team lead, assistant manager or management capacity.
- Strong understanding of inside sales, customer service and branch operations.
- Experience working within a fast-paced distribution environment.
- Strong leadership skills with a genuine interest in developing and supporting employees.
- Comfortable working directly with contractors, builders and construction-industry customers.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond quickly when operational issues arise.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Collaborative leadership style and willingness to be hands-on with the team.
- Experience with inventory, logistics or warehouse operations is an asset.
