Job Title: Part-Time Accounting Assistant (Flexible Hours)
Location: Kelowna, BC. Remote and in Office/Hybrid Position

We are looking for an enthusiastic part-time Accounting Assistant to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on accounting experience while studying Business Administration or Accounting, with a CPA-qualified VP of Finance available for mentorship and growth opportunities.

Invoice Processing:
- Set up and manage invoices in compliance with company processes.
- Review placement forms for accuracy and compliance, following up with internal staff as needed.
- Enter placement details into the Master commission sheet.
- Input invoice information into Xero, saving drafts for the VP of Finance to review and ensuring accurate client records.
- Conduct internal follow-ups with recruiters on outstanding client invoices.
- Forward invoices to recruiters and determine whether they will follow up directly with clients.
- Collaborate closely with the VP of Finance on external follow-ups when needed.
- Reconcile and code imported bank and credit card transactions into Xero.
- Locate receipts and attach them in Xero for proper documentation.
- Record transactions in the appropriate general ledger accounts.
- Reconcile accounts to bank and credit card statements monthly for accuracy.
- Assist with the monthly and annual close processes under the guidance of the VP of Finance.
- Enter payables into Xero, ensuring receipts are attached and transactions are correctly coded.
- Notify the VP of Finance and HR of bills that need review and payment.
- Currently enrolled in a Business Administration or Accounting program at a local college or university (such as UBCO or Okanagan College).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks independently while adhering to deadlines.
- Enthusiastic about learning and gaining practical experience in accounting and finance.
- Comfortable with using accounting software (Xero experience is a plus).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a small team.
- Prior experience in an accounting role is an asset, but not required.
