What type of recruitment do you specialize in?<\/span><\/span><\/h4>\n

“I specialize in architecture and design, and I also do a bit of urban planning.<\/span> I love it! In another life, I could have been an interior designer. This way, I get to see all the beautiful portfolios, so <\/span>it\u2019s<\/span> kind of <\/span>adjacent to<\/span> that.” – Brittany<\/span><\/p>\n

“Definitely. Plus,<\/span> being a recruiter can be very <\/span>lucrative<\/span>, so <\/span>it\u2019s<\/span> the best of both worlds for you!” – Wes<\/a> (Interviewer)<\/span><\/p>\n

“Exactly!” – Brittany<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

What did you do before recruitment?<\/span><\/span><\/h4>\n

“Thi<\/span>s is my first and only recruitment <\/span>job.<\/span> Before<\/span> this, I worked for a home builder in sales, managing a show home.” – Brittany<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

What made you choose recruitment?<\/span><\/span><\/h4>\n

“I always tell people I got recruited into recruitment! I loved my <\/span>previous<\/span> job, but I needed a change after doing it for a long time. The biggest con was working evenings and weekends, so I was looking for something more flexible.” – Brittany<\/span><\/p>\n

“And now <\/span>you\u2019re<\/span> in a 100% remote recruitment role. How do you like that?” – Wes<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“It was the main reason I made the move into recruitment. The flexibility of working remotely was a huge selling point for me.” – Brittany<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Speaking of remote work, <\/span>you\u2019re<\/span> a bit of a digital nomad<\/span>.<\/span> Where have you worked from, and which place was your favorite?<\/span><\/h4>\n

“Yes! I started small with a trip to Saskatoon to see if I could work effectively outside my home office. After that, I went to Mexico, made a placement there, and got more confident<\/span> that my remote working and travelling can work!<\/span> Last year, I worked from <\/span><\/span>Japan <\/span>and Norway, <\/span><\/span>t<\/span>his year, I spent five weeks in Argentina and another five weeks in <\/span>traveling <\/span>in <\/span><\/span>Turkey<\/span>, Portugal, and <\/span>Greece <\/span><\/span>all whilst running my <\/span>desk.” – Brittany<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“That\u2019s<\/span> amazing! <\/span>Where\u2019s<\/span> next?” – Wes<\/span><\/p>\n

“I\u2019m<\/span> looking at South Africa next.” – Brittany<\/span><\/p>\n

“That\u2019s<\/span> exciting! How did you find working in different time zones, especially in Europe?” – Wes<\/span><\/p>\n

“Europe was challenging since <\/span>there\u2019s<\/span> a nine-hour difference, but I adjusted my schedule. <\/span>I\u2019d<\/span> explore in the mornings and work from the afternoon until late evening.” – Brittany<\/span><\/p>\n

“That\u2019s<\/span> a great approach. <\/span>I\u2019m<\/span> planning a similar trip next year and might have to borrow some of your tips.” – Wes<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Do you have any tips for succeeding in remote recruitment?<\/span><\/span><\/h4>\n

“My biggest tip is finding a community of other remote workers. They help keep me on track and provide a sense of accountability, even though we all work for different companies.” – Brittany<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“That\u2019s<\/span> awesome. Is there an organization <\/span>you\u2019re<\/span> part of?” – Wes<\/span><\/p>\n

“Yes, <\/span>it\u2019s<\/span> called Remote Year<\/a>. They offer programs for people who want to work and travel. <\/span>I\u2019ve<\/span> been doing their month-long programs.<\/span> I highly recommend it. Even if <\/span>you\u2019re<\/span> not traveling, finding a community is key to staying productive.” – Brittany<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

What is<\/span>\u00a0the most rewarding aspect of being a recruiter?<\/span><\/span><\/h4>\n

“Honestly, the work-life balance. <\/span>It\u2019s<\/span> great to help people find their dream jobs, but <\/span>I\u2019m<\/span> also thrilled to have found my own perfect job.” – Brittany<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

How would you define recruitment in three words?<\/span><\/span><\/h4>\n

“Clients, candidates, and calls.” – Brittany<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
