It has built a strong local reputation through service, reliability, product knowledge, and long-term customer relationships.<\/p>\n<p> This opportunity will suit someone who enjoys helping customers, learning building products, staying organized, and being part of a practical, team-first environment.<\/p>\n<p> The Opportunity This role is designed for someone who thrives in a busy sales and customer service environment where product knowledge, communication, and follow-through matter.<\/p>\n<p> You will work directly with contractors, homeowners, and retail customers, helping them identify the right products, prepare quotes, place orders, and coordinate with internal teams to ensure a smooth customer experience.<br \/> Success in this role comes from being reliable, customer-focused, detail-oriented, and willing to learn.<\/p>\n<p> <strong>Key elements of the role include:<\/strong> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Supporting contractors and retail customers with building material needs<\/li>\n<li>Preparing quotes and processing customer orders<\/li>\n<li>Helping customers select products across multiple building supply categories<\/li>\n<li>Managing special orders, deposits, and follow-up<\/li>\n<li>Working closely with yard, delivery, purchasing, and supplier partners<\/li>\n<li>Providing hands-on support at the sales counter and on the retail floor<\/li>\n<li>Building long-term relationships with local customers and contractors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> <strong>Key Responsibilities<\/strong> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Serve contractors, homeowners, and retail customers in a professional and helpful manner<\/li>\n<li>Support customers with product selection, pricing, quoting, and order placement<\/li>\n<li>Prepare and manage special orders, including quotes, deposits, updates, and follow-up<\/li>\n<li>Process transactions through POS systems accurately<\/li>\n<li>Respond to customer enquiries by phone, email, and in person<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate with yard staff, delivery teams, suppliers, and internal departments<\/li>\n<li>Track product availability, pricing, and order timelines<\/li>\n<li>Support inventory, merchandising, displays, and order staging as required<\/li>\n<li>Resolve customer issues or questions in a practical and professional way<\/li>\n<li>Maintain strong product knowledge across core building material categories<\/li>\n<li>Participate in product training, supplier updates, and team initiatives<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to a positive, service-led branch environment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> <strong>Ideal Profile<\/strong> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Customer service or sales experience<\/li>\n<li>Strong communication and relationship-building skills<\/li>\n<li>Comfortable working with numbers, quotes, orders, and product information<\/li>\n<li>Organised and able to manage multiple customer requests at once<\/li>\n<li>Confident using computer systems, POS tools, email, and general office software<\/li>\n<li>Team-oriented with a practical, helpful approach<\/li>\n<li>Willingness to learn building materials and construction product knowledge<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> <strong>Strongly Preferred<\/strong> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience in building materials, contractor supply, retail hardware, home improvement, trade supply, or a related environment<\/li>\n<li>Experience supporting contractors, builders, renovators, or homeowners<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with products such as lumber, framing materials, roofing, siding, insulation, drywall, hardware, fasteners, doors, windows, or finishing products<\/li>\n<li>Previous counter sales, inside sales, retail sales, or customer service experience in a branch environment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> <strong>Nice to Have<\/strong> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Knowledge of the Teulon or Interlake contractor market<\/li>\n<li>Experience preparing quotes or managing special orders<\/li>\n<li>Previous experience in an independent dealer, lumber yard, building centre, or contractor-focused retail environment<\/li>\n<li>General understanding of residential construction stages and building material applications<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> This role is particularly well suited to someone from a contractor sales, inside sales, retail sales, trade counter, hardware, or building materials background who enjoys helping customers and building long-term relationships.<br \/> Compensation &amp;
