Reporting directly to executive leadership, the <strong>Controller<\/strong> will oversee all financial operations, support project teams with financial management, and ensure accurate financial reporting while helping drive the organization&#8217;s continued growth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Financial Leadership &amp; Accounting Operations<\/strong> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lead and oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, project accounting, and general accounting functions.<\/li>\n<li>Manage, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.<\/li>\n<li>Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain the integrity of financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls.<\/li>\n<li>Develop and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to improve efficiency and support business growth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> <strong>Financial Reporting &amp; Planning<\/strong> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.<\/li>\n<li>Lead the annual budgeting process, quarterly forecasts, and cash flow planning.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership.<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate year-end audit activities and liaise with external auditors and advisors.<\/li>\n<li>Support executive leadership with financial analysis, reporting, and business planning initiatives.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> <strong>Project Financial Management<\/strong> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Partner with Project Managers from project start-up through completion to establish financial reporting structures and project controls.<\/li>\n<li>Oversee project costing, progress billings, accounts receivable, and profitability reporting.<\/li>\n<li>Review project budgets, commitments, change orders, and cost allocations to ensure financial accuracy.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor project financial performance, identify risks, and recommend corrective actions where required.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure financial information is accurately maintained across accounting and project management systems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> <strong>Operational &amp; Business Partnership<\/strong> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Collaborate with project teams to improve financial visibility and operational performance.<\/li>\n<li>Review trade invoices, payment certifications, and contract compliance.<\/li>\n<li>Provide financial insight to support project decision-making and improve profitability.<\/li>\n<li>Identify opportunities to streamline workflows through technology, automation, and process improvements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> <strong><br \/><\/strong><strong>QUALIFICATIONS &amp; EXPERIENCE <\/strong> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CPA designation preferred.<\/li>\n<li>7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.<\/li>\n<li>Previous experience within the construction industry is required.<\/li>\n<li>Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, including job costing, progress billing, holdbacks, WIP reporting, and project profitability.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with Premier Construction or similar construction ERP systems is considered a strong asset.<\/li>\n<li>Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>SKILLS &amp; COMPETENCIES<\/strong> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Proven leadership experience managing and developing accounting teams.<\/li>\n<li>Strong technical accounting knowledge and financial reporting expertise.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.<\/li>\n<li>Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across finance, operations, and executive leadership.<\/li>\n<li>A proactive leader who enjoys improving processes, implementing controls, and driving operational excellence.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>WHY THIS ROLE?<\/strong> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Join a respected and growing construction organization with an established presence in the Vancouver market.<\/li>\n<li>Play a key leadership role with direct influence on financial strategy and business performance.<\/li>\n<li>Partner closely with executive leadership and project teams on high-profile construction projects.<\/li>\n<li>Help shape and improve financial processes while supporting continued organizational growth.<\/li>\n<li>Enjoy long-term career growth within a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> If you&#8217;re an experienced construction finance leader looking to make an impact in a growing organization, we&#8217;d love to hear from you.
