DIRECTOR, CONTRACTOR SALES<\/strong>
Lower Mainland, BC
Compensation: $160 – 180K + Bonus

Our client, a well-established and growing building materials supplier with a strong presence across British Columbia, is seeking a Director of Contractor Sales to lead and elevate its contractor sales division.<\/p>\n

Operating a network of contractor-focused and home improvement locations throughout the province, our client is known for operational excellence, strong supplier partnerships, and a commitment to long-term customer relationships. This role is based out of the Fraser Valley and plays a critical part in driving performance, profitability, and strategic growth across multiple locations.
The Opportunity The Director of Contractor Sales is a senior leadership role responsible for: <\/p>\n

  • Strengthening existing contractor and vendor partnerships<\/li>\n
  • Developing new business opportunities<\/li>\n
  • Coaching and mentoring Inside and Outside Contractor Sales teams<\/li>\n
  • Overseeing engineered wood design and fabrication operations<\/li>\n
  • Driving financial performance across sales, margin, inventory, and delivery functions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    This position requires deep knowledge of the residential construction industry, including engineered wood products and building material distribution.<\/p>\n

    Key Areas of Responsibility Sales Leadership & Team Development<\/strong> <\/p>\n

      \n
    • Lead, coach, and mentor all Contractor Sales professionals across locations<\/li>\n
    • Develop structured pipeline management processes<\/li>\n
    • Establish and track budgets, KPIs, and performance metrics<\/li>\n
    • Build individualized development plans for sales team members<\/li>\n
    • Facilitate bi-weekly sales meetings and ongoing performance accountability<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Financial Oversight & Performance Management<\/strong> <\/p>\n

        \n
      • Conduct weekly A\/R reviews with executive leadership<\/li>\n
      • Oversee salesperson accountability related to margins, special orders, returns, and budgets<\/li>\n
      • Support collections processes, including legal remedies when required<\/li>\n
      • Manage inventory planning, turns, and purchasing execution<\/li>\n
      • Prepare comprehensive annual location and contractor sales budgets<\/li>\n
      • Forecast market fluctuations and year-over-year growth targets<\/li>\n
      • Monitor gross margin dollars and percentages across locations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Operational & Delivery Excellence<\/strong> <\/p>\n

        • Ensure next-day delivery capabilities across all branches<\/li>\n
        • Oversee fleet management, rotation planning, and repair cost analysis<\/li>\n
        • Improve delivery efficiency through analytics and technology<\/li>\n
        • Reduce company-wide cost per delivery<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Technology & Systems Integration<\/strong> <\/p>\n

          • Lead implementation and optimization of internal ERP\/DDMS systems<\/li>\n
          • Drive integration of emerging contractor-focused software platforms<\/li>\n
          • Promote consistent system adoption across all branches<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            Vendor & Industry Engagement<\/strong> <\/p>\n

              \n
            • Conduct quarterly strategic reviews with key building material suppliers<\/li>\n
            • Collaborate closely with Supply Chain leadership<\/li>\n
            • Represent the organization within industry associations (e.g., CHBA, regional building associations, Chambers of Commerce)<\/li>\n
            • Lead customer engagement initiatives including supplier trade shows and regional events<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              Customer Relationship Management<\/strong> <\/p>\n

              • Conduct quarterly executive-level meetings with top contractor accounts<\/li>\n
              • Review quarterly sales and margin performance for top customers<\/li>\n
              • Drive account growth strategies across major markets<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                Qualifications<\/strong> <\/p>\n

                  \n
                • Post-secondary education in Business, Marketing, or related field<\/li>\n
                • 10+ years of progressive sales and\/or marketing leadership experience<\/li>\n
                • Experience leading multi-location or regional sales teams<\/li>\n
                • Deep understanding of residential construction and building materials<\/li>\n
                • Strong written and verbal communication skills<\/li>\n
                • Demonstrated passion for mentoring and developing others<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
