Contractor Supply<br \/> Compensation: Highly Competitive Base + KPI Bonus + Profit Share + Benefits <\/p>\n<p> We are recruiting a <strong>Retail Store Manager<\/strong> to lead and grow the retail division of a well-established independent building materials supplier South of Winnipeg.<\/p>\n<p> This is <strong>a business-driven leadership role<\/strong> focused on revitalizing and expanding the retail operation.<br \/> The company operates a larger contractor and construction supply business alongside retail, and the incoming leader will have <strong>full autonomy over the retail side of the operation<\/strong>, with responsibility for strategy, procurement, merchandising, and team leadership.<br \/> This opportunity will suit an <strong>entrepreneurial leader with strong commercial instincts<\/strong>, capable of driving growth while leading a well-established team.<\/p>\n<p> <strong>The Opportunity<br \/><\/strong><br \/> This role is designed for a commercially minded <strong>Retail Leader or Business Operator<\/strong> who wants the autonomy to run a retail operation like its own business.<br \/> You will oversee <strong>five core departments<\/strong> \u2013 Paint, Plumbing, Electrical, Tools, and Hardware \u2013 and lead a team of approximately <strong>20<\/strong> <strong>retail employees<\/strong>, including department managers responsible for their own procurement and sales performance.<br \/> The role offers the opportunity to <strong>drive growth, optimize purchasing strategies, and influence profitability<\/strong>, while building and developing the next generation of department leaders.<\/p>\n<p> <strong>Key elements of the role include:<br \/><\/strong><br \/> Taking full ownership of the retail division\u2019s <strong>P&amp;L performance<\/strong><br \/> Driving sales growth and profitability across five retail departments<br \/> Leading procurement strategy and vendor negotiations<br \/> Managing and developing a team of department heads and retail staff<br \/> Building a culture of accountability and commercial ownership<br \/> Treating the retail division as its own business unit within the company<\/p>\n<p> <strong>Key Responsibilities<br \/><\/strong><br \/> Lead the retail store\u2019s <strong>commercial strategy and operational performance<\/strong><br \/> Manage a team of approximately <strong>20 staff across five departments<\/strong><br \/> Drive department-level growth through pricing, purchasing, and merchandising strategy<br \/> Own responsibility for <strong>gross profit, margin, inventory turns, and departmental performance<\/strong><br \/> Negotiate with vendors and manage purchasing decisions<br \/> Work closely with ownership to align retail growth with broader company strategy<br \/> Develop and mentor department heads while supporting future leadership transitions<br \/> Maintain a positive, people-focused culture while ensuring strong accountability<\/p>\n<p> <strong>Ideal Profile<br \/><\/strong><br \/> 5\u201310+ years of leadership experience in <strong>retail, trade supply, or technical distribution<\/strong><br \/> Strong <strong>business acumen and financial understanding<\/strong>, including P&amp;L responsibility<br \/> Experience in <strong>procurement, purchasing, or vendor negotiation<\/strong><br \/> Proven ability to lead and influence established teams<br \/> Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to <strong>identify and drive growth opportunities<\/strong><br \/> Background in <strong>industrial supply, contractor sales, hardware, or building materials<\/strong> is highly desirable<br \/> This role is particularly suited to candidates coming from <strong>independent distributors, industrial supply businesses, or smaller commercial operations<\/strong> where leaders operate with high autonomy.<\/p>\n<p> <strong>Compensation &amp;
