Our client, a highly respected, legacy manufacturer of industrial products, is currently seeking a CPA-designated Financial Controller to lead the finance and accounting team. Based in their Mississauga Head Office, this individual must have experience working within the manufacturing sector, demonstrate a track record of leading cohesive departments, and be comfortable providing insightful support and expertise to senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
The Financial Controller will oversee the financial operations and reporting for the company. Key duties will include:
- Managing the finance team, consisting of a small team of direct reports, ensuring smooth day-to-day operation.
- Overseeing and managing all financial processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
- Leading the preparation and delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Coordinating and liaising with external auditors during financial audits and ensuring compliance with audit standards.
- Reviewing and/or preparing detailed financial reports, forecasts, and budgets to support business strategy.
- Ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of month-end and year-end close processes.
- Utilizing ERP system capabilities to optimize financial processes and reporting.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives across the finance function, enhancing systems, controls, and procedures.
- Developing, enhancing, and implementing financial models to support strategic decision-making and business planning.
- Acting as a key business partner to senior leadership, providing insights and analysis to guide business decisions and performance.
- Monitoring and analyzing key financial metrics and KPIs to identify opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications & Experience:
- CPA designation required (CA, CMA, or CGA)
- Minimum of 2 years as a Financial Controller, ideally within a manufacturing environment
- Proven experience managing a small finance team
- Strong proficiency in financial reporting, financial modeling, and data analysis
- Expertise in Excel and experience working with ERP systems
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and advise senior leadership
- A strategic thinker with a focus on continuous improvement and process optimization
- Familiarity with auditing procedures and compliance standards
