Our client is seeking a motivated individual with strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of Engineered Wood Products (EWP), lumber, roof and floor trusses, and general building materials. Whether you’re an experienced estimator or someone with a background in carpentry, drafting, or construction looking to transition into a new challenge—this opportunity could be for you.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare accurate material take-offs, cost estimates, and quotations for EWP, lumber, trusses, and other structural building components
- Read and interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, and construction plans
- Work closely with sales, design, and operations teams to ensure estimates align with customer expectations and project goals
- Communicate with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain pricing and product availability
- Assist with order processing, change orders, and project revisions as needed
- Recommend value engineering and cost-effective solutions to clients and internal teams
- Maintain and update project documentation and estimating software systems
- Experience in estimating, construction, drafting, design, or a related field preferred
- Working knowledge of EWP systems, lumber, trusses, and building materials
- Familiarity with MiTek software and truss design systems is a strong asset
- Ability to read blueprints, building codes, and construction documents
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- High attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
- Proficiency with MS Excel; experience with estimating software or AutoCAD is an asset
- Drawing experience is a strong asset, especially for interpreting and modifying technical building plans
