Step into a pivotal role as a CNG Service Technician, where you'll work on the cutting edge of alternative fuels technology. This position is integral to advancing the use of sustainable energy in transportation, with a focus on maintaining and optimizing systems for Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), Renewable Natural Gas (RNG), and Hydrogen Fuel.
You'll be hands-on in ensuring the smooth operation of critical equipment, playing a vital role in reducing environmental impact.
Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance:
Electrical Systems: Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical components such as wiring, panels, switch gear, switches, gauges, transducers, solenoids, actuators, motors, frequency drives, and controls. Your role will involve restoring equipment to its proper operating condition following regulations and repair manuals.
Mechanical Systems: Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on mechanical systems including compressors, pumps, engines, intercoolers, aftercoolers, heat exchangers, piping, tubing, valves, and actuators. Ensure these systems are safe, efficient, and compliant with industry standards.
Advanced Troubleshooting & Repairs:
Use advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to identify and rectify malfunctions in both electrical and mechanical systems. Execute complex repairs and adjustments to ensure all equipment operates at peak performance.
Handle high-pressure gas systems, ensuring safety and precision in all adjustments and replacements.
Station Inspections & General Upkeep:
Conduct thorough inspections of CNG, RNG, LCNG fueling and Hydrogen stations to verify operational standards are met. Address any identified issues promptly to minimize downtime.
Maintain station cleanliness and safety, performing tasks such as trash removal, equipment cleaning, minor structural repairs, and landscape maintenance around fueling enclosures.
Documentation & Compliance:
Utilize service software to meticulously document all maintenance activities, inspections, parts used, and any relevant observations. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations related to the operation of alternative fuel stations.
Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices to maintain the highest standards of operational safety and efficiency.
Travel & On-Call Duties:
Travel to various sites to perform job duties, with occasional coverage in neighboring states as needed. Be prepared to respond to on-call service requests, ensuring round-the-clock reliability of fueling stations.
Experience & Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum of two years of hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, or alternative fuels technology is strongly preferred.
In-depth knowledge of high-pressure gas systems, HVAC, and alternative fuel technologies is a significant advantage.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in using diagnostic tools and service software for troubleshooting and repairs.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including pumps, compressors, engines, and control systems. Experience with electrical systems, particularly in a high-pressure gas environment, is crucial.
Basic computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), and familiarity with industry-specific service platforms.
Physical Requirements:
Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally, with or without assistance. Able to perform physically demanding tasks such as walking, standing, climbing, and driving in various weather conditions.
Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
