With a Master’s in Environmental Design and a well-developed network of industry professionals, she has both the technical understanding of the design and development process as well as an active network and deep-rooted connections within the market developing exceptional relationships with her clients and candidates throughout the industry.Shawna is a Founding Partner of DMC Recruitment Group and is focused in working with her clients and candidates in the Architecture & Design industry working with various search engagements of specific positions throughout North America including; Principal, Director, Senior Architect, Architect, Technologist, Designer, Project Manager and other positions within small to large architecture and engineering design firms within this discipline.The combination of Shawna’s education, experience and passion for design fuels her goals to develop further relationships with her clients and candidates and her focus on developing an educated and reliable recruitment agency specifically in the industries of architecture and design, building materials and construction. Shawna believes in the development of healthy environments and the design of human spaces as cohesive elements of our built environment and how we as humans can develop and build those spaces. She is passionate about design and spaces but is stronger at developing the relationships with the individuals that create those rather than being one herself. ARCHITECT - Healthcare
Location: Kelowna, Vancouver, Vancouver Island, British Columbia
Compensation: $100 - 130,000 Base Salary

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Healthcare Architect to join our Client's dynamic team in either Kelowna, Vancouver and/or Vancouver Island, British Columbia. With a strong focus on designing impactful healthcare environments, this role provides an opportunity to lead the architectural development of hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities that promote patient well-being, operational efficiency, and innovative care delivery.

As a key member of this team, you will work closely with healthcare providers and project stakeholders, ensuring that each design meets the highest standards of quality, functionality, and sustainability. Your expertise will drive the design process from conceptual development through to completion, guiding teams in producing solutions that meet the needs of both healthcare staff and patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and planning of healthcare projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, consultants, and healthcare providers, to deliver comprehensive design solutions.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure smooth execution and client satisfaction.
  • Oversee the preparation of architectural documents, drawings, and specifications in alignment with healthcare design standards.
  • Stay informed on the latest trends in healthcare design, sustainability, and building technologies.
  • Ensure adherence to AIBC guidelines and all applicable building codes and regulations.
  • Conduct site visits, review construction progress, and provide technical guidance as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Architect with 7+ years of experience in healthcare projects.
  • AIBC Registered
  • Proven expertise in healthcare facility design, including knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects from concept to completion.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and other relevant design software.
  • A passion for designing environments that enhance the quality of care and support innovative healthcare delivery models.
